Shopbop.com and Frye Boots Giveaway

frye boots

Today, I've teamed up with Shopbop.com to give away a $100 Shopbop.com
instant gift card to the most creative commenter who shares what his or
her favorite pair of Frye boots from Shopbop.com is, and why. It's that simple.

What's the story behind your favorite Frye boots?

In 1863, John A. Frye, a shoemaker from England, started the Frye Company making it
the longest continually operating shoe company in U.S. history. From the American
Civil War to the pioneers' travels out West, Frye boots has remained a part of
American tradition since the company's founding. In fact, a pair of Frye boots
represents America in the 1960s at the Smithsonian Institute!

In 1938, Frye's grandson made a pair of boots for a U.S. Navy Admiral, and after
that, soldiers' orders of Frye boots continued; in fact, Frye supplied thousands
of their Wellington style (also known as Jet Boots) to WWII soldiers, including
General Patton!

Today, whether they're worn with motorcycle jeans or a mini dress, Frye boots
continue in popularity, worn by celebrities, like Jessica Biel and Anne Hathoway.

I will FOREVER love the Frye Engineer Boot because they make my heart want to hug my brain!

They look great when thrown on with a cute pair of winter tights and a rich colored, full bodied dress. I also love them on Isla Fisher when she throws them over a pair of loose jeans matched with a cute fitted blazer, if anyone can pull of that all American girl style it's her.

Frye boots are definately an oldie but a goodie.

Well? Isn't it obvious? My heart belongs to the Veronica Slouch Boot.

One word. tough. I can see myself kicking butt in these babies. Watch me punch out that six-foot-nine monster over there. Think I don't have the guts for it? In these boots anyone has guts enough to take on the world. Watch me jump off a motorcycle in in slow motion, wearing a leather jacket, as a huge building explosdes behind me. Yup, and while rocking those boots. Tough enough?

I like 'em tall, high-heeled, and buckled down. And if I can't get diamonds on the soles, I'll take gold studs near it.

The no-nonsense brown Frankie Buckle Boots are for me. I'll run this town with them. And then go save some abandoned kittens. Everything you do, do it with style!

I love the Frye Loop Pull On Boots. These boots remind me of a young Princess Diana in her patterned sweater and boots. These Fryes make me want to get on a horse and ride, something I've never done in my life! I love the straps and rings and the fine leather. These boots are classic and classy and I would love to own them forever.

I j'adore the Frye Harness 8 boots because Kiera Knightly wore them in a vogue photo shoot with my favorite animal, a baby elephant! They're organically beautiful and the length is perfection. They tell a story about a cowboy, old man on the railroad, and a city babe who dresses au naturale. soooo, pick me!

I love the Matilda Button-Tall boots in blue, because Lindsay Lohan would so approve! I would rock them with a short black tank dress, a colorful beanie and scarf, and of course, some shades...because it is still hitting 75 degrees in California, and we can still pair tanks and scarves in November! Then I would stand in front of a brick wall with my foot kicked back against it, because these boots are perfect for that pose!

I'm so down with the Erin Oxford Flats in grey. Because I can't afford anything like the Louboutin Oxford's (Olivia Polermo's favorite), the Frye Erin is a perfect way to stay en trend, support a longstanding American shoemaking tradition, and not break the bank. I might wear them with Free People's stretch motorcycle jeans, and a plain white Alexander Wang tee.

I was looking for the perfect pair of winter boots anyway. I've even considered getting them made since there wasn't anything that I truly liked. I hadn't even considered Fryes until I saw your post. They are tough but feminin, classy but affordable and they would go with just about anything. I would love love love to win this giveaway.

I love the Dorado low boots. They've different enough to stand out from the boot pack now and classic enough to last forever--I can see myself wearing them for the rest of my life. How?

Now: Around my orange-leaved college campus with floral tights, a vintage dress, and a blazer from my mom. The tough soles are perfect for crunching over pavement and acorns and, in a few months, snow.

In ten years: With dark jeans, a cozy sweater, and a piece of interesting jewelry (big necklace? ring?) while at lunch with the same friends I've had since college.

In twenty years: Pulled on over husband's jeans and t-shirt to chase after babies, get work done, garden in the backyard, and reflect upon the fact that it all started in 2009 with the Shopbop giveaway.

I love the Dorado Suede Riding Boots. So perfect for dressing up an everyday outfit. I would wear them with skinny dark jeans, and a cozy oversize sweater.

Since the moment I laid my eyes on the Melissa Button boot about a month ago, I have not been able to get them out of my head! The gorgeous leather, adorable button, and the great workmanship have definitely come together in this perfect pair of classic boots.

I think about these boots about once or twice a day... usually day dreaming about what I'd wear with them (hmm... how about a new knit dress and leggings, or some new skinnies and a long sweater?) but more likely than not, I'm thinking up how I can save enough money for a pair. I'm racking my brain to think of things to sell on Craigslist just so I can get these boots (I've already saved up $130 by selling some of my wedding decorations. Score!) but I'm pretty sure once I get these beauties, I'll need more money to buy super cute outfits to match the even-super-er cuteness of the boots.

Oh, and I went completely out of my way after work today just to touch my Melissa Button boots at Macy's. *sigh* they are heaven.

My choice would have to be the Matilda cuff booties. Classic colour, timeless shape, these could be worn with a number of outfits.

I'd wear them with a pair of high-waisted, envelope cut trousers, tapered at the ankles to show them off (similar to those of Gianfranco Ferré autumn/winter 2009/10). I'd pair the trousers with a a simple, chiffon blouse, and let the boots do the talking!
